Kaila Pearson is obsessed with the ocean, and the marriage between art and science. Kaila collects her seaweed from local Santa Cruz beaches to make her seaweed cyanotypes. Kaila was born and raised on the West Side of Santa Cruz, and now she lives by the Harbor with her husband and her dog, named Tuna. In addition to her art, she is also an ocean lifeguard and a biology professor at Cabrillo College and UCSC.
